My happiness has always come from being active, exploring, and photographing. I find deepest inner peace and happiness after a trip into nature- there is something about it that is soul cleansing and relieves the stress of our every day lives. I'm attracted to the primal side of it as well, interacting with the land as our forefathers may have - trying to see it for all its beauty and capture that beauty with my lens, all without leaving a footprint or disturbing the environment I've entered.
Over the years my love for the outdoors has deepened, and I attribute that to friends who have shared their love for the outdoors and outdoor activities with me. Everything from hiking to fishing and hunting to rock climbing to through hiking - it all is part of a world opened up to me by friends and members of my community.
That's precisely my goal here - I want to share the outdoors with you, with everyone. America has such a beautiful landscape, full of unexpected geological formations, a myriad of wildlife, and nearly unrestricted opportunity to explore. Through my travels across The United States over the next few weeks, months, and years - I hope to inspire you to connect with the outdoors. This means everything from going for a walk in your local public park, to summiting Mt Rainer (a goal I share with my friend Michelle, I'll keep you posted on when we do it...).
Please use this site, my blog, facebook, and instagram, as well as any other means to educate yourself on the public lands behind America the Beautiful. I'll be posting articles and writings blog posts on conservation, how to responsibly interact with the outdoors, things to do outside, how to prepare for outdoor activities, and most of all - photos of all of these places.
My end goal is to foster and grow a sense of passion for these wild spaces throughout our community. I plan to finish off my adventures in @vanforpublic land by putting together a coffee table book(s) on America's public lands - a hardback source for the beauty and opportunity hidden in plain site, available for all willing to step outside. I'll be sharing profits by donating to wilderness conservation groups across our country. All of this done to take a #standforpublicland and share the extreme importance of nature in our lives.
If you would like to contribute a story to my blog or book of your experiences in the outdoors, or what the outdoors means to you, please email it to me at email@example.com or through the contact page on this site.
