In 2017 I built out my Ford Econoline (good ol Rex), and set-off to explore wherever the tires would carry me, and then some. I traveled the west for a year photographing, learning about, interviewing folks on, and advocating for the conservation of America’s Public Lands. My heart has settled here in northern Idaho with my partner, Shaw, and our two pups. Although I am no longer living in my van full-time, I take every opportunity to explore new places and learn more about the world around me. I’ve even been serving with AmeriCorps at a local conservation district in education, outreach, and riparian restoration.
My long term goal is to put together a book on public lands, outdoor recreation, and conservation advocacy. This is in an effort to raise awareness for the conservation of our public lands, to educate Americans on the beauty of our nation, and to get more people out experiencing the great outdoors. So many of us don't even know these places exist, let alone get a chance to see them or understand their significance in our world. I want to change that.
A portion of proceeds from my coming book will be donated back to these lands and organizations which vow to protect them and educate us about them and how to enjoy them to their fullest. Please subscribe to my blog to follow along and learn how you can #standforpublicland .
